Here is an example of a marking rubric I use. Simple, concise and easy to read. Students can receive the rubric before the assignment so they can ensure they are meeting the criteria.
Students chose one part of the Bayeux Tapestry and re-create the scene with clay and a short write up. The entire class can re-create the tapestry!
Graphic novels are just as good as novels. This can be a great way to get apathetic readers to get "into" a book.

For body smart students, working with clay is great. This activity included short paragraphs to show that the student understood the concepts and achieved the learning outcome.

I have devised a monetary system in my classes that help create intrinsic values for the students, both good and bad. IE- forgot something in your locker? 1 Clementbuck. Did your homework? $1 given.
